چکیده

Background: One of the most popular surgical operations performed using a variety techniques is tonsillectomy. The two that are used frequently traditional cold dissection technique (CDT) and electrocautery, latter which carried out monopolar bipolar electrocautery procedures (BET).All during tonsillectomy intended to lessen perioperative bleeding, intensity felt pain, postoperative morbidities. Aim: To compare outcomes electro cautery versus steel pediatric in terms mean-operative time intra-operative blood loss. Setting: ENT department Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, F.J. Medical University Lahore from 11-03-2022 10-09-2022 Study design: Randomized Controlled Trial type: Quantitative study type Methods: sample size 110 (55 group A 55 B) was estimated by 95% confidence level, 90% power test with an anticipated mean loss surgery i.e. 7.38±2.81m1 11.73±2.86 ml dissection. Results: hundred ten patients were included as per calculated age 8.96±2.42 years. lowest limit children 5 years while maximum 13 In A, 8.80±2.46 B, 9.13±2.38 difference observed insignificant p--value = 0.481. Coblation tonsillectomy versus dissection tonsillectomy: a comparison of intraoperative time, intraoperative blood loss and post-operative pain.

The objective of this study was to compare the intraoperative time, intraoperative blood loss and post operative pain between coblation tonsillectomy and cold tonsillectomy in the same patient. A prospective single blind control trial was carried out on 34 patients whom underwent tonsillectomy. The patients with known bleeding disorder, history of unilateral peritonsillar abscess and unilateral...

Six years of evidence-based adult dissection tonsillectomy with ultrasonic scalpel, bipolar electrocautery, bipolar radiofrequency or 'cold steel' dissection.

OBJECTIVE To conduct an adequately powered, prospective, randomised, controlled trial comparing adult dissection tonsillectomy using either ultrasonic scalpel, bipolar electrocautery, bipolar radiofrequency or 'cold steel' dissection. METHODS Three hundred patients were randomised into four tonsillectomy technique groups. The operative time, intra-operative bleeding, post-operative pain, tons...

A comparison between cold dissection tonsillectomy with harmonic scalpel tonsillectomy

Introduction: This study aimed to compare operation time, intraoperative bleeding and postoperative pain between cold dissection tonsillectomy and harmonic scalpel tonsillectomy.  Materials and Methods: In this single-blinded clinical trial, 32 patients aged 14–48 were enrolled. Each patient randomly underwent tonsillectomy using the harmonic scalpel on one side and cold dissection on the other...

Ethamsylate and blood loss during dissection tonsillectomy.

In a series of 101 unselected patients undergoing tonsillectomy by dissection, ethamsylate (10 mg/kg) was injected immediately before induction of anaesthesia with thiopentone. Anaesthesia was maintained with nitrous oxide, oxygen and trichloroethylene in all patients. Blood loss was estimated by swab-weighing. No useful reduction in blood loss was found to result from the use of ethamsylate, t...

Blunt dissection versus electronic molecular resonance bipolar dissection for tonsillectomy: operative time and intraoperative and postoperative bleeding and pain.

OBJECTIVE To compare operative time, intraoperative and postoperative bleeding and pain using two different techniques for tonsillectomy: electronic molecular resonance bipolar tonsillectomy and blunt dissection tonsillectomy. METHODS From January 2005 to December 2006, a prospective, randomised study was performed in 800 children, aged from 3 to 10 years, admitted to the ENT (Ear Nose Throat...
